Is this podcast worthwhile? Are there any new insights into 90s Trek that we didn't have before? I'm asking because 1½-2 hours per episode is a bit too long for my taste, so I'd only listen to it if it's really good.
I’ve had their Patreon since they started. I definitely think it’s worth it it mostly of nostalgia factor. They do have insights into what they remember from back then, how they taped, interviews with older cast members, etc.
But to be honest I also haven’t watched since the third season, so no idea if it’s gone downhill since then but I still pay their Patreon because Voyager was what I grew up watching after coming home from school everyday.
Made it through a few seasons too, something to keep in mind is that this is a couple of actors telling the story, so there is a lot of talk about the actual production process too. But on the whole I found it interesting.
I know reviews are pretty mixed, but I enjoyed listening on and off as I watched Voyager! But I will say that their episodes were pretty long winded for my tastes. In particular, while I understand why they had a section describing all the guest actors, writer, and director, they spent a bit too much time on it for my taste. Especially the actors, where they covered each actor's first role and usually had a bit of a IMDB review. I personally only really care for the stories about the production of each episode, and also their general reception/opinion of each episode is fun since they're deeply a part of the trek world.
For me, a briefer version would have been a home run. As is, it's worth a listen, but you should feel free to skip around.
It's pretty fun. Their behind-the-scenes perspectives have been enjoyable.
