I think they're trying to say that doing anything now is too little too late
A defeatest attitude only makes things worse faster.
Yeah I don't agree with them, and am trying very hard to be optimistic about climate change
False optimism is as toxic as unjustified defeatism. Be realistic.
Being realistic would be pessimistic in this case.
The science clearly says we're already fucked. We'd not only have to reach zero emissions but actively start removing previous emissions from the atmosphere.
Afaik no one's even trying on the second part.
