This one has more comments so I vote it the winner..damn, bots can be helpful lol. I wonder if the old mods are still hanging around Reddit twiddling their thumbs or whatever

Yeah. They're really quite handy.
Wonder when Lemmy is going to implement an API, or whether that's another thing to go on the big pile of "soon" features.
Honestly, I thought most of the old mods moved over here and created the whole community in the first place.
It is possible to do automatic posts and things now, but it requires programming knowledge that makes it a bit hard. On Reddit people had developed tools (automoderator) to make it easier, and I'm sure there are people working on that for Lemmy too.
I'm slowly getting my head around the basics of what applications are needed to create some automated tools, but I'm coming from a very low starting point as far as programming knowledge goes so I'm not sure how long before I can actually do anything.
I've got no idea about the old mods - they always seemed like unknowable mythical creatures, my brain struggles to believe they even exist outside of Reddit🤣
