I know a lot people don’t care about pre-season games but I personally really enjoy them. Chance for 2nd string players to show their stuff. Try out plays.

I had chatgpt summarize this article just for kicks https://www.ninersnation.com/2023/8/12/23829498/trey-lance-sam-darnold-49ers-raiders-preseason-quarterback-start

The San Francisco 49ers have decided that Trey Lance will start their preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, while Sam Darnold will play most of the second half. Head coach Kyle Shanahan mentioned that this plan might change, but for now, they intend to give Trey Lance more time in the first half and Sam Darnold in the second. Shanahan usually avoids playing starters in Week 1 of preseason, as they had productive joint practices with the Raiders. The focus is on evaluating the performance of second-string players and minimizing the risk of injuries to starters. Despite the limited game time, fans are excited to see the team back in action, especially watching the young quarterbacks in extended gameplay. However, it's important to note that preseason strategies are often basic, so results should be taken with caution.
