Fun fact: In French, ChatGPT sounds like chat, j’ai pété ("cat, I farted")

[–] Kecessa 1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's funny because that kinda is misinformation, there's no "t" sound at the beginning in the way it's pronounced for cats and with the "t" sound at the end it's closer to how a female cat is pronounced (chatte, the t at the end for a male cat [chat] is silent)

So in French it sounds like Chat (as in chatting) I farted

I don’t think the way they explained it necessarily means the cat must be female? The way it’s written it could still be pronounced ‘Chat (Sha) GPT’?

French isn’t my first language so if I’m wrong, I’m interested in knowing how so that I learn from it. Thank you!

It would be pronounced "sha" only if the person thinks it's a cat we're talking about, no one who speaks French pronounces ChatGPT "sha", we pronounce it "tshat" with both "t" sounds.

Also the "a" sounds different for the animal

French is my first language and the language I use on a daily basis, thanks for trusting me on that.
