Agreed. I've bought the game and it's dlc for two different friends and convinced another two to buy it for themselves. It's one of my most played games on Steam (nearly 500 hours in the game since I first bought it early 2018) and still play it occasionally even today. I'm a BIG fan of the game.
When the Quality of Death beta first came out I decided to attempt to 100% the game (there are over 200 achievements so it's no easy task) and I am finally nearly done. Overall the achievements have all been fun to get, aside from only a couple of outliers (namely the two speed running achievements). It's worth noting that quite a few of them require you to play with somebody else, but I would recommend doing so regardless.
But because of my achievement hunting, I've spent a lot of time playing the Quality of Death beta (though I have yet to play the final release of the update) and can say that the game's value has shot up enormously with it. Before the QoD update, my biggest complaints with Barony were that it was pretty new-user-unfriendly and the UI was really ugly. But the update completely overhauled the user experience in such a positive way that I can finally recommend the game to just about anyone that isn't immediately turned off by the art style.
I'm always bopping around different games but this is one I usually always have installed so it's good to hear that the update sounds like a big success. I've never tried it multiplayer but I bet it's a hoot.
