The Walrus on Bluesky

“Pierre Poilievre has taken anger and frustration that should be directed at the chartered banks that earn billions, grocery chains that earn the same, and the rest of the gougers and redirected it at the Liberals,” writes @drmarkbourrie.bsky.social. thewalrus.ca/poilievre-finall...

Eh... eh... eh....

The Liberals deserve a good portion of that blame - especially w.r.t. grocery chains which only got a slap on the wrists after the bread price fixing scheme.

It's not like the CPC would have done anything differently had they been in charge (both parties are deeply neoliberal) but the NDP, Greens or BQ likely would've responded much stronger.

Isn't it a coincidence that all three parties NDP🟧, Greens🟢, and BQ⚜️ support proportional representation?

I think the bigger issue is that if a party gains majority it tends to sour on passing PR. Not to get all depressing up in here but in BC the NDP rode to power on promises of PR, held a sabotaged referendum, and never brought it up again.

I think it's still better to vote for parties that promise proportional representation (NDP/Greens/Bloc), than none at all (LPC/CPC).

I'm in absolute agreement with that.
