It depends on what you mean by cover-up.
Does the US government know we are being visited by aliens and have managed to disguise it? That seems unlikely because definitive evidence would have leaked out by now - Trump "borrowed" so many secret documents, you'd imagine the most prized would have been pictures of alien autopsies and the like. Just look at the Discord leaks, some idiot will always try and impress their friends and proof of aliens would be the biggest prize.
Has the US government been manipulating the perception of the phenomena in order to cover up various top secret projects? We know that has happened.
I would argue that information has been leaking for 70 years. Granted, these "leaks" have primarily been testimonies by individuals in the military and government. The only hard evidence with a verified chain of custody that has been publicly disclosed are the three videos released in 2017. Christopher Mellon and Lue Elizondo facilitated the release of these videos.
As for President Trump, it's uncertain what he was privy to. I've seen the argument made that he would leak information, but that is merely an assumption. Video evidence shows him seemingly dismissing UFOs at the beginning of his presidency, but his tone drastically changes towards the end. This shift is most notable during the interview he had with his son, Don Jr.
I can agree with this. Regardless of if you believe UAP represent a Non-Human origin or not, I think there are some cases in which black projects have been mistaken for UAP and the government would gladly have the public believe they are non prosaic.
And yet, no smoking gun. Most of the big "leaks" have been disinformation.
edit: and in our information age, the evidence is just a few clicks of a mouse away. If not leakers, then hackers would be after it - we know they have been.
It's not evidence of aliens.
They aren't just happy that they've been mistaken as UFOs, the intelligence services have been actively involved with misdirection since the early days.
Would you be able to give an example of a leak being disinformation? I'm not saying there isn't, I'm honestly just curious. I'd like to educate myself in this case.
Generally, I would agree with you. However, I would argue that most critical information that needs to stay out of the public eye is likely located on an intranet with no connection to the outside world.
Take the Snowden leaks as an example. He had to physically walk out with those documents. It's worth noting that Snowden had this to say about "aliens" when searching for documents: "I had ridiculous access to the networks of the NSA, the CIA, the military, all these groups. I couldn’t find anything,” he continued. “So if it’s hidden, and it could be hidden, it’s hidden really damn well, even from people who are on the inside."
Generally speaking, hackers target data they can profit from, such as bulk user data like credit card information, identities, and so forth. Despite popular belief, the vast majority of hackers targeting governments are actually other governments.
Edit: Just to play devil's advocate, there was a hacker named Gary McKinnon who breached NASA's security in the early 2000s. He claims to have seen satellite imagery of UFOs. Although it's anecdotal, I thought it worth mentioning as it's relevant to our discussion.
You are correct, and I must apologize for the misunderstanding. When I originally read your first comment, I somehow overlooked the fact that you specifically mentioned aliens. What I meant to say is that it's evidence of something non-prosaic or unlikely to be man-made. However, I wouldn't necessarily assert that it's made by aliens.
I agree with you here.
