From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

For android users Fennec, Iceraven, and Cromite are more or less the top 3 browsers that I would recommend to anyone who is concerned with security and privacy. All 3 are open source and free of ads and trackers. Fennec and Iceraven are Mozilla based and have the ability to install basically all available Firefox addons, both mobile and desktop, though many desktop based addons will have compatibility issues that often break the ability that they'll work either at all or only partially, but generally I would say that the majority of Firefox's most popular addons typically work with issue, much more so than what does or is even available for the original Firefox for android browser. Cromite is a fork of Chromium, which is the open source version of Google Chrome. Its webview based so feels very similar to Chrome. Cromite has many unique features with its primary focus on browser privacy and security in mind.
