I got one of those fediverse chicks messages today and I noticed I had already blocked the user. Does blocking not stop accounts messaging you? If so its going to be a problem given what we see wit that fediverse chick spam.

Oh that should definitely not be possible... So we'll fix that as soon as possible. Reporting those messages is also on our radar

Just wanted to update that I got three more today and two of them I had blocked and silenced. So im now feeling pretty confident that blocking a usage does not keep them from messaging you.

Yes we know. We just merged a PR that should hopefully solve this issue: https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin/pull/1489

thank you so much. Does this mean an instance will need to be running 1.8.1 for it to take effect?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, but since v1.8.1 is not out yet, nobody can run it yet. Unless you are using a server that is running on main branch. Like my server (kbin.melroy.org) is basically always running latest of the latest bleeding edge (since I'm the developer, I rather want to know when thinks fail fast)
