At the time of typing this, the goal was dropped to $50k USD (from $56k), extended the campaign to January 30th, and is 99% funded.

I know, reddit bad, but the creator is active in the r/SteamDeck discord server if anyone has questions.

Edit/update: project is now fully funded!!!

CE certification is a process that takes time and money to perform

CE mark is often self-approved, it is neither an actual certification nor is there a process or money required. It's simply a promise from the manufacturer that the product "conforms with European health, safety, and environmental protection standards."

It either does that and they can put a CE mark on it, or it doesn't and that product is never going to be available in the EU as-is.

true, but you need to account for it during production which takes effort and money.
