Can't say I've heard of grape jelly either. When you say jelly, do you mean jam? Or are you talking about the wibbly-wobbly stuff that kids love? Because I dunno how you'd put that into a sandwich

Jam is made of fruit. Jelly is made of fruit juice, so it's smoother. Jell-O is the wobbly thing and would not make a good sandwich.
I'm sure it's different in different parta of the world, but atleast in the US, Jelly is pretty similar to jam, but usually more processed, without any little chunks of fruit in it.
Over here Grape jelly and Strawberry Jam/Jelly are the most common to find in stores.
