This is not about "all social media", this is about specific influence campaigns being conducted to manipulate political outcomes via TikTok either with the PRC's blessing or under their direct instruction. It is real, it is intentional, it is happening right now, and your "smell test" is fucking broken because all of the actual evidence demonstrates that banning TikTok is the correct move.
Isn't musk doing very obvious and very intentional political influence with Twitter, for example in Germany? Why isn't Twitter also banned?
