Fiat money is what crypto aims to replace since coins like Bitcoin and Monero use proof of work and therefore require electricity and real world power generation in order to be created. Monero for example is already a harder money than gold because gold's inflation rate according to the World Gold Council is about 1.5% per year while Monero's inflation rate is perfectly knowable at any time and is currently 0.85% and falling.
