Made by my mom around 40 years ago. It's never been cleaned, so it's hanging there waiting for me to get the nerve to wash it.
I played Sousaphone in high school marching band, and I used to bring it to all the football games. I'd lay it out on the aluminum bleachers, and the drum majorettes would all sit on either side of me.
I started dating a flute player, so then the majorettes had to freeze their asses off.
Is it made of 100% wool? If so use wool wash and clean it in your sink following these instructions (I use a detergent brand called Soak for my hand knits).
Is it likely acrylic yarn? Put it in a mesh delicates bag, wash in your washing machine on a gentle/delicates cycle, and lay it out to air dry or dry in the dryer on low heat.
And if you’re not sure, any yarn can be washed using the hand wash instructions
