My brother and I split the SNES when it came out (presumably with money our parents gave us because we were just kids), but he got gifted Super Mario RPG. And he held that shit over my head, and we didn't get a long, and he never let me play, and so it kinda solidified itself as my favorite game of all time, because it had this forbidden nature for me.

Putting all that aside, it was just a well made game, great pacing, great mechanics. I got the Switch version and I'm hoping to get my kids into it, but it's hard to compete with the looks of modern games, especially since my kids are young.

My copy did something weird and wouldn't let me get one particular hidden chest after the first playthrough. Heartbreaking.

Is it the one in the castle you have to ride on a Toad's head to get? That one's missable.

Yeah, that one's tricky, but there's also a later one that requires you to jump to reveal a hidden platform but the platform wouldn't reveal itself when I jumped into it, even though I got it the first run and could see Mario bump into it in air so I knew I had the right spot.

I can only assume there was some weirdly specific glitch or damage 🤷‍♂️

That sounds like the entrance to the casino. That one's tricky, but I doubt it's messed up on your cartridge.

Its the second Land's End one here:

For some reason the hidden platform just won't activate anymore. It's entirely possible I'm just missing some detail but like I said, worked fine the first time.
