Home defense but not a fan of a shotgun frankly

An AR15 or a pistol caliber carbine are my go to recommendations for home defence because with a rifle stock you will be more accurate & faster.

Ok, if no shotgun then get a 9mm or .45 pistol. I prefer 9mm because it is generally lighter. I have a glock 17 that I like.
