Year-round bicycle fun

It's the cool season, not the off season.

Winter cycling only seems crazy if you haven't tried it before. With the right gear, it can be enjoyable and very rewarding.

So let's share our experiences, and please feel free to ask questions!

Would you recommend a zwift? I usually ride trail but am interested in road biking and figured I could buy a used road bike this winter but riding in the cold can suck pretty bad lol

If you're interested, I would recommend a direct drive smart trainer to use with Swift. I prefer to get my distance in bicycle commuting in the winter. Once I figured out how to dress properly and got panniers to carry groceries, it became a ton of fun. Chores and workout at the same time.

Thanks, ya I looked into that. I decided to go the used peloton route instead, the price basically ended up being the same, around $600 (granted there was a stupid activation fee that peloton has), but the classes are very good. Also having my bike readily available on nicer days where I don't have to mess with putting on the tire in a limited time window of daylight after work was a big seller for me.

Riding around here for chores is a bit sketch, but I have definitely thought about it. I need to mess around with winter riding gear to figure out what works for me. I have a fair bit of winter gear, just narrowing down what works for biking in particular is going to take a bit. Tips there definitely appreciated
