Does anyone here own a weighted blanket?
Was thinking of one with the idea that it might help me sleep at night.
yeah but instead we call it existential dread. Still weighs heavily but it's free.
I might give the dread a pass.
Does seem to come with a few negatives Iβd love to avoid.
No, but I have a cat that likes to lie on top of me in bed. Does not help me sleep. Especially when purring loudly into my ear.
I can see the upsides but I think having a cat tends to put your body into an immobile state.
Miss Meow is remarkably good at balancing while I roll over.
she is singing you a lullaby
I do. It has worked at times, but not always.
I am a heavy layers/blanket peep. I tend to find I sleep better with a bit of weight.
I think I prefer the weighted blanket if Iβm not feeling great, or maybe for a nap. Even after owning it for a few years, Iβm still trying to figure out how it works best for me.
Oh ok. I feel like I kick the light ones off too easily sometimes.
If I was going to get one it was going to be one of those Kmart ones.
used to have one but it felt too heavy, ended up with melatonin
Oh ok.
I do like the additional weight. More worried that it might get too warm or something.
You can buy weighted ones that are designed for hot weather, they woven out of massive threads with large holes for air flow.
Edit: but I think there are some now that are cooling too, if you search for 'Australia hot weather weighted blanket'
Like this?
Yeah like that!!
That sounds like what I have.
Itβs woven like thick rope in a cross code pattern and thereβs large holes with the way itβs woven as well.
I don't have one but I do layer blankets with a doona for the same effect. It's hot though, so I do want a weighted one as well. I think it will help you if you like the feeling of heavy doonas
Iβll give that a shot. Got this bottom knitted cotton blanket which is surprisingly heavy.
Iβll chuck that on top tonight and see how it goes.
My winter doona is very nice on really cold nights but too warm to use in spring and summer mostly.
