I'd personally like to believe that I'm preparing to be the wise mentor for a younger hero.
very much same. These tend to be the most interesting types of people.
Aww man, that means you're basically guaranteed to be killed by the villain, giving the hero an impetus to fight.
At least you'll give them a final nugget of wisdom with your last breath that will help the hero in a moment of crisis.
