Showing my age here but man I hate voice notes. I'm not always somewhere I can listen to it, and the UI for resuming a note halfway is terrible (if it's even implemented) so if I get interrupted I have to listen to it again. I can read much faster than I can listen so you're wasting my time too
Another old here to agree with you. If they’re going through that process, why not just use voice to text? We can get text transcripts of voicemail - why can’t we also have text transcripts of voice notes?
Privacy issues, for the most part. Most messaging apps are encrypted such that the server is unable to view the contents of the messages, only the participants in the conversation can decode it. For the transcript to happen it would either break encryption (a huge can of worms) or it'd have to happen on your device, which would probably be beyond the scope of the app.
