Explanation: The sculpture depicted is meant to represent the Brothers Gracchi, a couple of extremely dangerous subversives in the Late Roman Republic who drew the ire of conservatives by... [checks notes] suggesting that letting the poor starve and be reduced to slaves in their own country was a bad thing.
For this reason, both brothers were unlawfully killed by conservatives in the Senate, despite the Gracchi being sacrosanct and democratically elected officials.
