I went there last week while looking for a non-alcoholic tequila. Don't go in expecting to save money versus real bottles. These are high end, small batch, spiced and flavoured masterpieces. The only thing the non-alcoholic tequila didn't have was the odour.
I'm taking credit for your finding this place LoL. One day I'll hit you up for a non alcoholic beverage as payment. ;)
Fair. We will have c/Winnipeg meetups at the forks or something. Like r/Winnipeg did ten years ago :)
Do any of the non-alc spirits actually taste like what they're trying to replicate?
I only tried the tequila. They had three open bottles at the tasting bar at the back. The smell was wrong (didn't feel like I was inhaling jet fuel). The taste was okay -- but the interesting thing was the post shot burn in the back of the throat, which felt nearly real. Some combo of spices to replicate it. Ten minutes later I felt like I'd just lined up three tequila shots on the rail and the alcohol just hadn't hit me yet. Interesting stuff.
It's not tequila though.
Maybe think of it like vegetarian cuisine. Sure, you could try to replicate a meat dish. Or you can treat it as its own thing and probably find new and exciting things. Some of the tequilas were trying really hard to replicate the experience, and some were just trying to be amazing.
