It has that curse of It Gets Better Later™, I say this as a genuine fan of the anime.
It goes into surprisingly poignant commentaries on social injustices like supremecist hate groups and slavery.
But if you don't like silly rubber guy doing silly things then it won't be worth your trouble.
One Piece is a legitimately impressive work of art that I will not be consuming. I respect it from a distance and it is better for both of us this way I think. It is both silly and serious in a way that's hard to balance.
As someone who had to watch the anime because his partner was into it, and continued to hate it to this day... the Netflix live action isnt bad. While it keeps the humour, it also makes the world seem more immersive/real than the anime did. So it might be worth checking out to see if its a better match than the anime/manga was for you
