Black people live around them, work with them, and use all the same facilities they can use. The civil rights movement wasn’t until the late 1950’s, and into the 1960’s. This (in)famous photo of Ruby Bridges attending a historically white school was taken on November 14, 1960.

It’s also a good time to remind people that boomers were born in the late 40’s and through the 50’s. The early boomers 100% remember when it was illegal for black people to use the same restrooms or water fountains. For reference, this is the same generation that was screaming behind Ruby Bridges.
