Why does Lemmy seem to have this homogenous opinion of him?

I've watched him since he started YouTube and I don't think he's a creep. I view him as someone who started off in poverty and fought to the top, making the most of his connections and resources.

This situation is definitely surprising though, and makes me question his integrity.

I don’t care about his fight to the top. Good for him. But his extreme philanthropic best buddy shtick looks just so fake, even if I try to factor in cultural differences.

Well, it's a self sustaining system. He uses the video revenue for philanthropy. Without the optimization tactics, like flashy thumbnails and titles, fast paced editing and screaming, viewership would decline. I see it as a necessity.
