Looking pretty cool! I'm a sucker for beat em ups, so i'm already interested :D
Nice to hear that :) I think it is obvious that the inspiration for this was Streets of Rage but do you know some good but unknown Beat em Up I should look into for reference?
@Feyter @russmatney It's definitely not unknown but if you havent played it I would recommend playing the 1st Golden Axe or try to watch some high-level play.
There's a couple things it does (very well) that IDK if other games have mimicked or perfected.
You can "lock" enemies with the right timing.
You can dash into high jump into drop strike for massive damage
The use of high and low ground to your advantage.
I should dig deeper into beat em up references in general - let me know if you know of any gems!
Outside of Streets of rage, some that I've played and enjoyed:
Some different ones that I've played a bit, but need to dig into more:
I've heard Fight 'n Rage is good too, but haven't actually played it yet
There are quite a few classic bundles out there too if you just want to dive into some of the old ones
TMNT for SNES I remember as one of the best Beat'em ups of all time 🙂
Thanks for all the tips.
