What is it with assassin's and being shit at their job? Dude was on a roof with a rifle and he wings his ear? This is Regan all over again.

He didn't have a proper sniper with a good scope, it was just, reportedly, an "AR-15 style rifle." In which case, good shot. Very good shot. That's a long ways, and proper sniper equipment is hard to get and harder to conceal.

Edit: I had no clue how close this actually was, at the time of writing the details hadn't been released. 150 yards... yeah even I could make that shot. How do you miss that...

Nonsense. Any decent AR15 with a scope you can buy from Bass Pro is sufficient for a beginner to make an easy shot like that all day.

Depending on the distance and wind, it might still be a bad shot. Trump was mostly a still silhouette. Any boot out of US Marine Corps boot camp would have hit him one out of two shots easy with an AR-15 from 500 yrds away in the prone position. Even more proficient if they were able to use any sort of support like a bipod.

Sure, a boot who was trained to use that rifle could have made the shot. So could a half decent hunter. But by all accounts this was just some dude, with no training, no scope, no bipod, and likely full knowledge of his impending death. Can't really blame the guy for being a bit twitchy on the trigger.
