Did people think we'd go to a whole new continent and not have any worldbuilding? Or did they want another high-stakes world ending threat for a high-adrenaline story?

The most common complaint I saw was that our character wasn't the main character, and I'd argue you never have been the main character. Your character makes no decisions, we just nod silently. So I don't see how that gained traction as a talking point.

Also true, which while I can understand how the WoL might have been a silent main character in the previous two expansions (since the story more or less revolved around their power) is still a ridiculous complaint. People love Heavensward and the WoL is basically just hited muscle then.
