I'd call it a frame of mind, not a skill. I was mostly a lurker on reddit for 10 years (SFW account, the one with this name is 7). Through some events, and the fact there wasn't much content here, I made the decision to be an active participant. I've slowly been trying to post on some other sites too. It was tough the first few times, but its getting easier.
