And remake it again for the following generation?

Emulation is becoming way way more stable and versatile way to play older games on computers of varying strengths.

Native ports, when done well, are just better man. It can make better use of resources and runs in a well supported ecosystem. Emulators are great but not ideal for experiencing games. It also puts a wall up for people to access games. The more people that can play the game the better.

I can run a multitude of games off my old laptop thanks to emulation. Emulators give games a much longer lifespan and are much more accessible.

Sony is literally selling games with an emulator. Go look at Sly Cooper on the ps5. Emulators are more than adequate.

All this does is put another payment into the publishers pocket.

Sly Cooper on the ps5 is emulated, not a native port. I've played some of the emulated Sony games on ps4 and they do not run very well, because the ps4 has to run an emulator and the game, instead of just running natively.
