I'm at work and forgot to bring in my noise cancelling headphones. The TV is on and its constant Trump rally "news". ๐Ÿ˜ž

Please don't take this the wrong way, but were you trained in the arcane arts of typewriting? The only time I've seen anyone do double spaces after a punctuation was when dad taught me how to use the typewriter as a kid.

Yes, I was trained on a typewriter. My fingers insist on the double space and my brain is no longer involved in the process. I don't think I could change now, no matter how much I wanted to!

To give you an idea of the timeframe, I came first place in my typing class, an achievement for which I was awarded a Brashes voucher ๐Ÿคฃ

Brashes voucher

So, according to Wikipedia, some time between 1860 and 1990.. I'm just gonna take the midpoint and assume 1920s.

Spot on! I will be 111 this year. So after a full century of double spacing it is definitely too hard a habbit to change now.

Fortunately it was actually the latter end of that range. We even had newfangled electric typewriters.

Uncle, I heard you've had this magic ring for a while.

Happy Eleventy-first! :)

Ha, nice catch! I recently noticed an older colleague doing the double spaces and it brought back memories of my mum teaching me how to type. Not sure when I dropped it, it looks weird to me now once I notice it.

The news being on the TV was probably the worst part of giving blood the other day. Fuckin free to air news is the pits.
