I accidentally broke a law a few years back. (Like for real. I had no idea there was a problem until an investigator told me he would be filing charges.) My Public Defender forgot who I was every time I met with him. His advice was to just plead guilty and get it over with. I got the maximum sentence on a lesser charge.
I don't know law. I trusted his experience, as he had been practicing for decades, but I've since found out that if he had put a little effort into the case, we had some options that would have turned out much better.
Fuck the system. Fuck the police.
