Folk metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal that developed in Europe during the 1990s. As the name suggests, the genre is a fusion of heavy metal with traditional folk music. This includes the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles.

I'm seeing them tomorrow in Munich, and I'm really looking forward to it. How's the opening act, Gunnar? The bit I listened to on Spotify felt very different from The Hu, and I have to admit, I wasn't too excited.

Yeah, I was actually a bit surprised that they had a number of harder moments durig the concert. Overall it was still on the lighter side of metal, but 1-2 songs were pretty hard, though sadly I can't tell you their names :). We also had a pit for a while, and rowing during one song.

Was re-listening to some Hu today, and some of their harder songs are from their newest album, Rumble of Thunder. "Shihi Hutu" and "TATAR Warrior" are both quite a bit harder.
