I'm starting to get alarmed by how desperately I need my coffee to function.

I think I need to have a day off where I just don't have any caffeine at all and writhe around like a junkie in the throes of withdrawal.

I skipped having a coffee on Saturday morning, but had one after dinner. Day was fine.

Yesterday skipped coffee altogether with no ill side effects.

And I'm a frigging coffee junkie most of the time.

And of course I had trouble falling asleep last night.

Stupid body

Interestingly I've always found that caffeine doesn't do a whole lot to me. If I'm tired, I'm still just as tired afterwards. I only really drink it for the taste

Coffee makes me both buzzy wired and sleepy at the same time. It’s unpleasant so avoided mostly.

Problem is that it takes more than one day. More like a week +. One day off will just be one day pain with no gain

I've found in the past that one to two days actually does help me reset (I just spend most of it sleeping) - I don't actually have that much coffee compared to most people, only one cup a day and always before 12 - but I wouldn't mind trying a whole week. I'd need a med cert though lol.

Fair enough. About ten years ago I tried going cold turkey when I was averaging i guess around 10-15 standard cups a day... First three days were brutal headaches and agitation etc. Then the next 2 weeks was constant brain fog. I couldn't work. Couldn't hold a train of thought. Gave up the attempt when I still couldn't work after those two weeks. Helped me dramatically reduce how much I was consuming at least.

I think I relative get off lightly and don't get any adverse effects if I stop drinking coffee.

I can definitely get buzzed with a coffee high if it's really strong and fresh as opposed to instant coffee but I've never had withdrawal effects touch wood
