That will never not be funny. Guy nuked his whole fame status in that one moment.

What's the context?

(Thanks for the answers, everybody!)

The short of it is that there was a Reddit poweruser named Unidan who had a background in bird science. Very popular, very often upvoted, tons of karma.

Unfortunately he was found to be vote manipulating on sockpuppets to elevate his content and downvote others, and IIRC this infamous jackdaw copypasta is the one that blew his cover.

Reddit power users always suck. So do Lemmy power users

An infromative biologist redditor named unidan made the comment above. The majority of reddit loved him. Whenever he posted a comment, reddit would literally get on their knees to jerk and suck him off with upvotes. That and the usual tone of his comments made me dislike him. He had a hissy fit with another redditor over a crows/jackdaws. He revealed that he made alts to downvote other redditors and upvote himself, even if the other redditor was correct. His downfall was very satisfying lol

Yeah some of his posts were just flat wrong too, but it was like shouting against a hurricane with how popular he was.

He knew his crow stuff, no doubt, but people thought he was like Reddit’s biologist who was an expert on every subfield which of course no one is. But he didn’t seem to want to admit that and instead posted some nonsense.
