It's more of a secondary effect. Being told 'Give me a load of money or I'll show this extremely embarrassing picture of you to everyone you know' can mentally fuck you up pretty bad as an adult, let alone as a teen with little to no source of income . It can be even worse depending on the type of image, how the victim expect his family to react or he's already subject to bullying/in a horrible mental state.
