The first season of the anime adaptation can be found on Netflix. Season 2 is confirmed and presumably currently in production.

DO NOT SPOIL THE ANIME WATCHERS

This is so that the anime watchers can sub to the community without worry of seeing posts that would spoil later parts of the story. This includes manga pages and panels, mentioning characters, fanart, etc.

Parent instance rules also apply, of course.

Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.

Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.

Well, crud. That victory really didn't last.

We finally have an appearance from a proper antagonist, the mad sorcerer. He is an ancient dark elf carrying a spell-book full of forbidden magic. And he's really not very happy about his pet dragon getting offed.

He seems to think that Falin is the red dragon, now. Or is the red dragon Falin?

Either way, she's taken away again, and the gang end up as a quartet, licking their wounds in the company of the orcs. As things look to be at their worst, Chilchuck has a crisis of conscience.

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.

The complexity of the characters and their motivations is such a highlight of this story.

You can feel the pain in Laios, too, as he considers Chilchucks plea to return to the surface. He wants to go after Falin so bad, but with his friend expressing such passionate concern for the group, he cannot ignore the fact that he'd be asking them to risk far too much.

That he's already been walking a tightrope in that regard. Chilchuck especially is there partly out of contractual obligation, he does care, but his presence isn't quite as voluntary as Marcy's. And in a way Laios would have, and has been abusing that fact to force far more risk onto Chilchuck than what he signed up for.
