The first season of the anime adaptation can be found on Netflix. Season 2 is confirmed and presumably currently in production.

DO NOT SPOIL THE ANIME WATCHERS

This is so that the anime watchers can sub to the community without worry of seeing posts that would spoil later parts of the story. This includes manga pages and panels, mentioning characters, fanart, etc.

Parent instance rules also apply, of course.

Dungeon Meshi is a well liked manga, and an adaptation by Studio Trigger is now airing. If you haven’t picked this one up, consider joining us. Both for fun and as a way of contributing to activity on Lemmy.

Episodes are available to stream on Netflix.

Well, crud. That victory really didn't last.

We finally have an appearance from a proper antagonist, the mad sorcerer. He is an ancient dark elf carrying a spell-book full of forbidden magic. And he's really not very happy about his pet dragon getting offed.

He seems to think that Falin is the red dragon, now. Or is the red dragon Falin?

Either way, she's taken away again, and the gang end up as a quartet, licking their wounds in the company of the orcs. As things look to be at their worst, Chilchuck has a crisis of conscience.

Remember not to spoil anything if you’re a manga reader, but feel free to elaborate on tidbits of lore that may not be coming through in the adaptation.

This is such a meme-able image lol "you hearin this shit Doggy#2? Yeah I hear it Doggy#1"

I'm sure I'll eventually grow to like the new elf mage but OMG I hated him so much in this episode! Such an ass! ( `ー´)

From what I can gather, red dragon was commanded by the mage to find the king, but it looks like the king has been dead forever. The mage seems obsessively attached to the king and that's why he spends all his time in the paintings reliving the past 🤔.

Didn't expect them to actually go back to the surface, wonder how long it'll be before they'll get back this deep and meet Falin again.

He did seem to care about what happens to the kings in the paintings. The older king died, so the younger one got the throne, and that's the one he's been talking about, the same Derghal that got coronated.

If you put the stuff we know about him together you can create a chain of logic: elf > long lifespan > for some reason was around humans who would keep dying from old age, and clearly cares about the humans > ? > master of a dungeon which is maintaining an immortality spell

Good observation! I didn't make the lifespan connection at all.
