One of the original POTW's from way back in week 2. Loved the photo then, and love it now! Way to get those fingerprints off the glass to get a clear shot.

We have some pretty restricted size limitations with it being a long rectangle (and my design skills are low) but we wanted a way for the community to feel engaged with each other, and to honor some great photographers. We also will give credit to the member who submitted that weeks highest rated photo.

Thoughts? Should we limit the photos to non-publicized photos? Bad idea/good idea? At the end of the day this is everyone's community so if you have other ideas, let us know!

Taken at the Vancouver Aquarium (Vancouver, Canada).

The scarlet ibis, sometimes called red ibis (Eudocimus ruber), is a species of ibis in the bird family Threskiornithidae. It inhabits tropical South America and part of the Caribbean. In form, it resembles most of the other twenty-seven extant species of ibis, but its remarkably brilliant scarlet coloration makes it unmistakable. It is one of the two national birds of Trinidad and Tobago, and its Tupi–Guarani name, guará, is part of the name of several municipalities along the coast of Brazil.

Time comes for us all.

We found this dead horseshoe crab on the beach today. It had a numbered tag on its shell apparently put there by The Maryland Fish & Wildlife Conservation Office. I've seen many horseshoe crabs here over the years, but never one with a tag. I made sure to go to the website and log it.

Ships at anchor.

Spotted the Cape Fear tug and Aegea tanker anchored in my parent's backyard.
