I was inspired by CherryTree to make my own note taking app. Please play around with this application, I welcome your feedback and issues.

Not that I claim Treedome to be any better than CherryTree. I'm trying my best to solve some of the pain points when using CherryTree, according to my daily usage.

I've come to realize that a lot of foss android apps are pretty outdated and usually abandoned. Is that even safe to use? Like even the fdroid archive repository, are those safe to use? I'm still rather new to the foss world, but in my mind it seems a very outdated app is probably not safe or am I missing something here?

I've made an open source tool for scheduling posts to Lemmy, you can find it at https://schedule.lemmings.world. It can be used by users from any instance!

You can also schedule pinning and unpinning of posts from a community if you're the moderator, making it possible to schedule for example weekly/daily threads as well as their pinning and unpinning.

Another great feature is the possibility to select multiple communities to post into.

Let me know what you think!

P.S. This post was created using the tool!

This lovely community helped me find a few great FOSS options to deduplicate my out of control photo library, so thanks to all!

Now I'm wondering if anyone knows of an app that can scan a library full of digital music and auto assign (or auto correct) ID3 tags. Similar thing with the photo dilemma. I'd rip my collection to FLAC or MP3 and do a half-assed job naming and categorizing the files because I got lazy. So now my music collection has a bunch of albums listed erroneously as "various artists" for example.

Also, if you're digitizing stuff now, please don't be a moron like me and take the time to organize as you go. Good grief what a mess. Thankfully I've learned that lesson as I digitize old 35mm slides for my parents to save!

I recall hearing about Alovoa a year ago and while it sounds nice with no ads or paid features, being open source, and private data being encrypted I have to imagine the userbase is incredibly small relative to other services. Google Play lists it at over a thousand downloads but it's also available through F-Droid so that may not mean much. I have to imagine the userbase is mostly men which might prevent some users from joining or sticking around.

Either way (TL:DR) I'd be curious to see what your experiences are with open source dating apps or even apps designed around making friends.

Use FFmpeg recipes without fiddling with the command line!

FFmpeg.app is a web-based front end to FFmpeg, the free and open-source application and libraries for processing of video and audio files. Its purpose is to serve as an easy front-end to this powerful tool, so anybody can discover and use it with no setup (or command-line access) necessary.

So, ya know when you have a ton of media files, all the photos, videos, design files etc. and your computer turns into a maze, and you can't find the damn exit? After smashing my head on the keyboard enough times attempting to find that one clip, I decided to go DIY and build something myself. That's how WrangleBot was born.

WrangleBot is this open-source media asset management app I've been beating into shape for a while. I've been living off coffee and enthusiasm trying to make this baby work - and I am all out of coffee. The idea is to give you a hand managing your digital junkyard, so you can find, sort, and use your stuff easier.

The app's about as tried-and-tested as I can make it, but I need some more real-world guinea pigs to add to our herd of 250. That's where you guys come in. You can download and test it from wranglebot.io. Got an idea to improve it? Cool, I’m all ears. Not to mention, bugs can be not-so-cute sometimes. So, if you stumble upon any, hit me up in our Discord Channel: https://discord.gg/sNC4KT8x

Oh, and since it's open-source, if you're as crazy about coding as I am, feel free to jump in and contribute. It takes a village to raise an app, right?

I’m hoping WrangleBot can make your digital life a little less "where's Waldo?", a little more "oh, there he is!"

That's it from my end folks, eager to hear your thoughts and can't wait to see where this journey takes us.

Happy Wrangling!

Hello guys, I have noticed that all the big internet services are starting to get worse and worse. And I am forced to migrate to foss alternatives. I have moved from Windows to OpenSUSE, from Reddit to Lemmy, etc. But I have an issue with moving from youtube. It is not that my favourite channels are not bringing me alternative they do but it is somewhat fragmented. Some of them are on PeerTube, some on Floatplane, and some on Nebula and I would rather pay those than youtube. My issue is that each of these has its app and I would like to have them united in one app to which I link all my accounts to. Does something like this exist?

The stock app converts my longer texts into a URL with broken text, which is frustrating. I used to use Signal until they dropped SMS support. Any good alternatives?

I read that The Internet Archive is having financial and legal troubles, despite being one of the most important projects on the internet.

Are there other projects that can be supported by "computing power"?

Is this a thing because ive been trying to get into gamedev but i cant code at all and ive been trying for so long now but i just cant. I know theres godot but there visual scripting makes so sense and can be strange at times.

ive seen people create games with ai but i feel like that kinda ruins the point of gamedev. Im not even sure why i want to make a game but i just do for some reason.

by chance do you have any suggestions or things you would like to add.
