Security company ADT disclosed in an SEC filing that hackers obtained “some limited customer information, including email addresses, phone numbers and postal addresses.” TechCrunch reports that ADT’s disclosure follows a seller on a cybercrime forum claiming last week that they had obtained more than 30,000 stolen ADT customer records.

It was about 2 p.m. on a Thursday in May when Mitch Carroll pulled up to an apartment building with teal trim in Madison County, Ind.

He was wearing jeans, a T-shirt and pristine white sneakers. But to the middle-aged woman who opened the door, it was obvious he was in law enforcement. He had a badge and a Glock 9 mm pistol at his waist.

“Hi, you Sharon?” Carroll asked.

“Yeah,” the woman replied.

“Sharon, I’m Mitch Carroll. I’m with the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office,” he said. “Deep breath. You’re not in trouble.”

Norway has a wealth tax, and one of the biggest arguments against it has always been that people can "flee" elsewhere.

The EU is a in a far better position in that respect, and it might embolden others.

An advantage of a wealth tax is that apart from raising money it actively punishes inefficient placement of capital, so apart from having the potential to shift tax burdens it's also an incentive to drive economic growth.

"All hope lost"? I for home have plenty of hope that this will lead to further hilarity as his vote keeps dropping until they get tired of the circus...

Palestinians, as well as some left-wing Jews, are being suspended from studies, fired from jobs, or arrested at night — all because of social media posts.

Far-right Apartheid regimes don't like opposition.

We are truly in the end-times. It's bad enough these two are up against each other, but that Trump 1) isn't behind bars, 2) is being taken seriously by anyone with an IQ above that of a turnip *irrespective of who he is running against, makes me lose all faith in humanity. Or in Americans, at least.

While not strictly news itself, the piece extensively quotes and summarises a lot of the last few days' news coverage on the subject.

One for the "but they voted for Hamas" apologists for human rights abuses.

In fact, Gazan frustration with Hamas governance is clear; most Gazans expressed a preference for PA administration and security officials over Hamas—the majority of Gazans (70%) supported a proposal of the PA sending “officials and security officers to Gaza to take over the administration there, with Hamas giving up separate armed units,” including 47% who strongly agreed. Nor is this a new view—this proposal has had majority support in Gaza since first polled by The Washington Institute in 2014.

Far-right extremist with a history of advocating for a "Greater Israel" covering Palestinian territories in violation of international law (annexation of occupied territory is a war crime) and opposing mixed marriages (totally not racist, no?) pretending there is no humanitarian crisis. How totally unsurprising.

The only thing surprising about this is why British media still goes easy on a far-right ultra-nationalist war-crimes proponent.

This is an interesting one. I'd guess Biden is very pleased with it, because if approved he's basically ensured the US federal government is bound to not repeat Trumps crap in this area for 8 years irrespective of who wins the next two elections...
