Team Luna

Luna is currently in its early stages, and your feedback holds immense potential to shape its future direction. This is the app that aims to have it all, plus a little extra.

In terms of features, Luna boasts an extensive range that stretches beyond basic posting and commenting. But that's not all โ€“ I've taken the liberty to incorporate many more based on the suggestions received during this process. Notably, the addition of various filters, such as keyword, site, read, and NSFW, has been significant. Plus, there's room for more โ€“ additional filters can easily be implemented upon request.

As for my own contributions, I've introduced various enhancements. Some, like the replacement of links (e.g., twitter->nitter), have been well-received successes. Others, such as direct site connection and search upon clicking, are in progress, while a few, like the option to copy post links, may border on extraneous clutter.

Admittedly, there's still plenty of polishing required, and the layout is a work in progress. Bugs, if encountered, will be swiftly dealt with. If you're up for exploring something that's a tad unpolished but brimming with potential, I invite you to join the beta. Let's collaborate in refining Luna โ€“ the Lemmyverse app that's delightfully extra

I've added a few things since then. I'm not happy with how it looks, but I'm at a point where I can add a huge array of filters. Site blocking is one I've heard, there's no easy way to see what you've blocked (and I need to restructure to save it per account) so I'm hesitant to batch block before I can undo it. I can hide posts from a list of sites.

I can also show only posts with images/video, links, or text (I'm not sure if the latter two are useful). I could hide posts you've scrolled through, but part of the restructuring is to allow me to manage more data - otherwise sql-lite reaches a limit and refuses to load more. I'm looking at a library which offers drastically faster saving and loading and would remove these limits, but it introduced build conflicts and so I've pushed it back

Let me know what you'd like to see - they're pretty easy to add if they're simple, any piece of data on a post, the community it's in, the server it's on, or the user that posted it is easy.

One of the other things not pictured is link rewriting. You can twitter.com with nitter.com at the moment you click the link - or any other simple replacement like that. Do you think some of these should come standard, or should users have to enter the link replacements themselves?

The feed

View any site directly

Go through its communities

Search it without changing accounts

I know what I like, but I'm no designer. I'm open to suggestions on look and feel - I plan to make the color palette configurable down the line, and after some optimizations I'll start adding in choices of different post and comment styles.

I'll be improving it as I go, but if you think of examples to take inspiration from, please let me know

If you do an internet search for "Flem" you get:

Did you mean: phlegm

Listen to pronunciation. (flem) A more than normal amount of thick mucus made by the cells lining the upper airways and lungs. A buildup of phlegm may be caused by infection, irritation, or chronic lung disease, and can cause discomfort in the chest and coughing.

Also: phlegmy

n. 1. Thick, sticky, stringy mucus secreted by the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, as during a cold or other respiratory infection. 2. One of the four humors of ancient and medieval physiology, thought to cause sluggishness, apathy, and evenness of temper.

So while the idea of this app sounds amazing you may be looking at a Brand Name problem due to undesired association with the above. (I'd never heard of #2 above, but that's a hard ask of people to associate your app/work with such an obscure reference instead of the common one.)

Note that "Wefwef" was rebranded as "Voyager" due to community feedback on "wefwef" being nonsensical. Turns out the dev. named it that initially because that's what his hand typed out on the keyboard since he really didn't have a name prepared.

News and discussion about the Flemmy client for Lemmy.

The design goal is to make a clean and performant app that will not only be a client for a Lemmy instance, but to be another layer of the Fediverse in your pocket.

The first priority will be insulating users from their home server - if it goes down or they sell to a company you don't trust, it could really destroy the experience.

The next priority is customization. Filters, personalized sorting, stitching multiple account feeds together - all while never sending the data outside your device. Some of it is present now (like keyword filtering or snoozing communities temporarily), some will be the focus of version 2 (stitching feeds, adjusting how much you see a community)
