RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on [email protected]
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Hello everyone,

As we moved here, I was thinking to recreate the regular threads using https://schedule.lemmings.world/

The ones we had on Lemm.ee were

  • Music Monday - What have you been listening to?
  • Cheerful Tuesday - What made you smile or laugh?
  • Hobbies Wednesday - What have you been doing?
  • Thursday - How is your week going?
  • Friday - What are your plans for the week-end?
  • Saturday - What have you watched this week?
  • Pets Sunday

First of all, do you have any ideas of other weekly threads that we could have?

Second, I am looking for other people to "own" the weekly threads, this community is your as well, after all!

@[email protected] offered to handle the Sunday one, would any of you be interested in posting any of the other ones?

You can just use https://schedule.lemmings.world/ to schedule the post with a weekly recurrence.

Didnt get any pictures cause my phone was turned off but there were a ton of people driving by filming

It was honestly really fun, I expected to to feel like a necessary and important chore, but it was super fun waving to every car and trying to get people to honk, and shouting

There were times where it felt like everyone at the major intersection we were at were honking simultaneously and it was kinda incredible 😅 I imagine it helps a lot we were in a fairly blue area in my state

We went to a smaller protest location instead of the main one in our area so we expected it to be really small and peeter out early but it was way bigger than either my friend or I expected

Overall it was really nice, I got to chat with folks, there were folks passing out food so I got a free cookie and donut, got to wave at cars, see people and sometimes little kids in the back seat wave back, try and get moving trucks and whatnot to honk (a good number did lol), only downside is I'm pretty sunburnt cause afterwards we went strawberry picking lol. I'm sure not all protests are fun, but as a first time experience it was a lot more fun that I expected

Walking away from it I feel a bit more connected to my community and I love that feeling

If so, how did you manage it?

The vet says he has a cancerous lump and will not survive any intervention, and that he was a very different dog than even from two months ago and that it was time. He has dementia, tracheal stenosis, diabetes and cataracts, and coughs a lot, so it really is time, but my ex needed to hear it from the vet, who thankfully is always her forthright helpful compassionate self.

I know the internet hates pugs, but he was a stray I fostered and then adopted, and he had a wonderful hilarious personality, was cuddly as could be, and really did very well until the last year or so.

It is the right decision without question, but it's never any easier no matter what experience you have with it. I will miss my puppy baby so much.

I'm really happy, I missed this, it's also something to look forward to, feeling awful from my first group of friends, I finally have a second group that I also once used to talk with, it's so good, I'm like irrationally happy right now

We're gonna play Minecraft again, we're gonna have fun, we're gonna joke around and talk about random shit that interest us, I'll finally take the stress of life out, I'm so glad this happened

Have you discovered a new instance? Did you experience a rift in community shifts? Did nothing change for you at all?

Personally, this event gave me a newfound appreciation for the admims of our various Fediverse servers. Thanks for all your hard work, guys.

It is so much sweeter and with a unique taste, I don't like peanut butter because it takes so much sugar to make it sweet but hazelnut is less calorie dense and sweeter, it just feel superior!

Just wondering if others think the same.

The thing is though its Hard to not be blinded during vacation.

Vacation is just different than living at the place.

I have no experience whatsoever but here in germany I feel like I am missing out on life. I wonder how cool it would be just to be a dive instructor or working at animal sancuarys around the world.

I understand its not chill how it is on vacation working a bit and bbq and beers with the plebs. So much going on behind the scenes and the pay sucks. I wouldnt be able to live how I live now.

But maybe life doesnt have to be comfortable to be better and I should try it?

My job and pay here is just too good but not good enough to volunteer more in how I would like to. Money will run out eventuelly and then what?

I dont think I should be living from vacation to vacation at the same time 80% of the humans dont even have this luxery I have..
