The Dawn of Everything - A New History of Humanity | David Graeber, David Wengrow | PART 2

I hesitated posting this audiobook because it is read by an automated voice. I find it to be it such an important book that I thought it is worth having it here. Also, every now and then, it loops some sentences (at least for part 1, I haven't gone through part 2), which is annoying but personally it didn't bother me too much.

I thought of sharing one of my favorite chapters - and to be clear - there were plenty of those. Her way of writing, as well as what she is writing about, felt kind of soothing to me.

Maybe, starting from chapter 1 would be the best option because it's related to an origin myth. Still, due to the fact that it is divided by topic, I suppose it also works to go trough the titles and start with the one you like best that day for instance, or depending on its length etc.

Andrej Grubacic and David Graeber wrote this introductory essay to a new edition of Kropotkin's Mutual Aid. The essay summarises and explains the importance of the work the context of its original publication and the importance of Kropotkin in current times.

The Dispossessed is a science fiction novel written by Ursula K. Le Guin and published in 1974. The novel is set in a fictional universe and tells the story of two planets, Urras and Anarres, and their relationship with each other. The novel explores themes of anarchism, socialism, and the struggle for freedom and equality.

The audiobook version of The Dispossessed is narrated by Don Leslie and was released in 2008. The audiobook is 13 hours and 25 minutes long

The story of The Dispossessed is told through the eyes of the protagonist, Shevek, a physicist from Anarres who travels to Urras to share his research with the scientists there. Anarres is a planet that was settled by anarchists who left Urras in search of a better life. Anarres is a harsh and barren planet, but the people who live there have created a society based on the principles of anarchism and socialism. There is no government or hierarchy on Anarres, and everyone works together for the common good.

Urras, on the other hand, is a planet that is divided into two nations, A-Io and Thu. A-Io is a capitalist society, while Thu is a socialist society. Shevek is fascinated by the differences between the two planets and wants to share his research with the scientists on Urras in the hope of creating a better future for both planets. (...)
