This works quite well usually.
I definitely don't agree. I think this is very problematic. I rely on all
to find new communities. I don't think one newcommunities
sub is a valid replacement. It would suffer from the same issue -- people would have to spam their post to every single instances's newcommunities
sub, which is ridiculous and not even viable.
There are voices, and actions that reddit has silenced that should be given back a voice again. Reddit has been doing very bad things and sweeping them under the rug. This will give people a chance to find out about what reddit is trying to hide from the public.
/r/watchredditdie for example, was a big sub that reddit basically shut down. I'm hoping to draw some of those people to lemmy as their new home. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/24701475.2021.1997179
And now apparently removing all comments that mention Lemmy...
Notice how a commenter here https://archive.ph/cV8X6 says "I think the removals are being / have been reversed", which is totally false. I see that a lot.
Need to encourage more communities to move to Lemmy.
I've also been pretty creeped out by how many pro-reddit people there are on lemmy. It's really weird.
The sound is much less important than the smell.
Ok, thank you.
So everyone's able to hold it in? Where do they fart?
I think it's essential to have one or more communities like this. There were a few on reddit -- watchredditdie, declineintocensorship, and more. The admins shut them down. I was unsuccessful in getting them to move over to Lemmy.
Absolutely the same things happen on lemmy. It's to be expected from both mods and admins. We need to have a place we can go to find out "which are the bad communities & instances".
The main problem I foresee is that those "watchredditdie and declineintocensorship" subs seemed to be well modded and mostly populated with intelligent people. In contrast, lemmy seems to have quite a lot of trolls, unintelligent people, and likely astroturfing. That will make things more difficult.
