It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Looking for a bit of help. I have two gates that need to be closed if my dog wants to go out. The problem I have faced is my smaller kids look out and if the gate looks closed they let him out, but it may not be latched. I was looking for some outdoor sensor or ideas to track if a gate is closed and latched, as we live on a very busy road.

One gate is a leaver latch and leads onto the road, one is a bolt type and leads to the driveway. I tried using cameras but the view of the latches are blocked most of the time so its a non runner.

Agree with YoLink. Can transmit very far although hub may need to be in line of sight for applications. I have one on my mailbox door and backyard shed door. You can keep getting alerts if door is left open. Using a water temp sensor for our space. The transmitter failed because of moisture ingress so placed new one in a baggie above insulated cover and under canvas cover. Nice log to see when opened and closed each day. Great customer service as well.
