A bit dramatic - buses do not seem to be doing well lately.

It sounds like the bus was empty and no one hurt, but traffic obviously is a mess.

Good god what is going on with buses in this country?!

Well there are a lot of these buses going around Melbourne all the time, and very seldom does anything like this happen. I just don’t want people thinking that buses aren’t safe.

Usually the front doesn’t fall off.

They haven’t had a good run lately, that’s for sure.

I don’t mean to speak ill of buses, but I have to agree with you. Of all our public transport - whether it be trams, trains or, yes, buses - buses are by far the most dramatic. I just don’t know what’s going on with them!

A person who was actually on that bus posted on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/melbourne/comments/14vqcgo/the_232_bus_i_was_on_earlier_blew_up_on_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 Sounds like it was very lucky that there weren't many people on the bus... Terrifying!!

This is why I refuse to buy an EV, the constant risk of fires 😎

... Oh wait

Electric vehicles don't catch fire very often, but when they do it's really hard to put out, and the water used to do so is contaminated with lithium. Because of the chemical reactions occuring they can reignite spontaneously too. Some places they have giant containers that the car can be put into and filled with water, and there are also systems being developed to continuously flow water through the battery. It is definitely a major issue for fire fighters to deal with when it occurs.
