I should have gotten tested months ago already, but executive dysfunction and anxiety kept me from making the phone call. It's soooo expensive because of the way my insurance works (haven't met my deductible). Also, I have to abstain from cannabis and alcohol for thirty days.

I'm hoping this is a worthwhile investment, since I'm pretty sure I have ADHD. In fact, I'm pretty sure ADHD is the number one problem in my life right now.

Just wanted to share and get some encouragement and empathy about this process!

My appointment is in just over a month. I've been on a waiting list for over a year.

Good luck! I emailed the same person I got my autism test from and was doing therapy with until, due to a scheduling thing, it just fell off. I never got an email back, so now I'm just here struggling through life and not being able to keep up with anything. I hope your test goes well and you are able to get the help you need!

Getting diagnosed with ADHD at a later age is way harder than it needs to be.

I got diagnosed after high school. I was repeatedly told that the reason I can't focus is that I'm tired and I need to sleep more.

Not only were my sleep issues related to ADHD but also I was exhausted from forcing myself to focus

I really don't like that doctor. Like if Im constantly exhausted I feel like that should be something to look into instead of simply dismissing.

I actually wrote a whole essay correlating ADHD and depression the year afterward for college. It really just explained all of my issues.

It is. I went to a neuropsych and they ask you questions about childhood since they have to prove you had it and this isn’t something new and possibly temporary.

Afterwards, though, they run you through some memory recall tests to see where your trouble areas are. I’ve never felt so mind fucked in my life however it allowed them to validate that yes, I do actually have adhd combined and the problem areas I need to concentrate on in life.
