I have a samsung galaxy s22 phone with android. I had a wear OS device that I paired with the phone but cannot now remember the passcode. Sometime around the time I paired my wear OS device and maybe due to an app I had installed on that device, my android now beeps on the hour, every hour, all hours of the day and night. It is a little annoying and it causes me to turn off my notifications and notification bell so that I am not constantly interrupted. Today it started beeping twice on the hour. I fear I may need to do a factory reset on the phone because i cannot stop this beeping. I have roughly 700 apps on my phone but few have notifications enabled. When I get a beep on the hour there is no notification, just the beep. My alarms are all disabled.

Is there a way I can stop this without wiping everything on my phone and starting from scratch with a factory reset? I have factory reset my wearos device and re-paired it with my phone but the hourly beeps continue.

I know this is a strange question to ask, so maybe another way to go about this is to ask: Does anyone know of an app which helps investigate notifications? Such an app may require root, but I’m thinking something akin to a utility app which might list recent system events, if that’s even possible (e.g., “appxyz created silent notification”)

There should be notification history. You ought to find it there. If not, you coul do it with tasker.

I just found the notification history and I guess it was already turned on. I’ve checked the notifications and I’m not seeing anything that would indicate an hourly beep. I guess I’ll keep my sounds on and check notification history when I see it.

I’ve used tasker before, but I’m a little unsure how it would be used here. Maybe something to turn off all system sounds at a minute before the hour then turn on all system sounds a minute after the hour?

Where would I find this notification history? You’re not talking about the notifications pull down, right? To be clear, I get a beep, and a vibrate, but there are no notifications. My phone just likes to beep and vibrate every hour on the hour, with no textual notifications linked to it.

Sounds like my S21, never used a galaxy watch with it but it liked to beep at me when no notification happened. I don't know if it was hourly cause I just kept it silenced. Never figured out what caused it. Good luck!

And yes, I do have ADHD. And no, I’m not using all 700 apps. And yes, I don’t know which of these 700 apps I will eventually use or not.

I’m ok with a factory reset in theory, once I audit these apps or maybe just dump it all onto a NAS and hit the big button.

But also hey if anyone know a good way to root these samsung phones that might also be a good thing to do at this time. I fancy myself a good root.

Have tried disabling or uninstalling the app associated with the device? You sure the beeping is associated with that device?

The only app that I think would be causing this is WearOS, because it seemed to happen after I installed a WearOS app. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled WearOS but it doesn’t seem to help. I’ve factory reset my WearOS device but that also didn’t help.

Have you uninstalled wearos and left it uninstalled for a while before reinstalling? That would verify whether it is causing the beeping or not. Beyond that, it sounds like a system level app if it is not showing up in notification history or the taskbar. You may want to check if you have any app notifications hidden in system notification settings.
